LOGAN VON WILLINGH’S STORY

News & Stories

Logan is the proud Manager of Bro’s Street Food and the Chairman of Change Makers. He is 37 years old and married with two beautiful children. This is an incredible transformation from the man who joined Change Makers in 2014, and a testament to God’s faithfulness and Logan’s perseverance.

THE EARLY YEARS

In 2011 I began hanging out with the wrong crowd and started using drugs. I became addicted and in 2014 my whole life crumbled. My parents and my family rejected me and I lost my job. From there, things went even worse in my life. I realised that I had become a person that I didn’t want to be. I had to find help.

A LIFE TRANSFORMED

I knocked on DSD’s doors and they arranged that I attend the out-patient programme at Toevlug Rehab Centre. God sent good people to cross my path. One day, Mevrou Erena gave me a lift to Toevlug, and we got talking. This is where I heard about Change Makers. Before this, I knew nothing about them. It so happened that the men in the Change Makers programme also attended the same sessions at Toevlug. Mevrou Erena was prepared to take me by the hand, and so I became involved with Change Makers, where I attended their programme. After three months, I completed their training course. That was when I gave my life to the Lord, and since 2015 things have become so much better in my life.

NEW PURPOSE

Change Makers had a vision to start a business that would generate funds for their operating costs, while also being a place where graduates of Change Makers could give back to the community and be trained as apprentices in the food business. They approached me to start this business. With the support of Charles de Villiers we worked really hard to get this business off the ground.

I have since completed a business course at the business school of the University of Stellenbosch. Bro’s has also grown, and we have our own shop in town, a food truck and provide catering services. Everything is run with excellence and best practices as a witness to changed lives.

AN ENCOURAGEMENT

I want to say to the youth and the young men in the Change Makers programme, get your priorities right! When we were in the world, we had no goals. We were going nowhere fast! Focus on Jesus Christ. Make Him the foundation of your life, and build upon Him – your family, your work, your community. God loves you, and He has a purpose for your life.

I am a proud ambassador of Change Makers. I can boldly say this is a very, very good programme. Change Makers Worcester is a shareholder of Bro’s Street Food and I give my 110% to this organisation. I applaud them, and I’m so happy that I can plough back by taking Change Makers graduates under my wing, training them, and sharing my experience and expertise with them. What a privilege!

THANK YOU!

Thank you to not only Change Makers, but also to Westside and Project Possible – our committed partners.
