Change Makers Programme

Change Makers Programme

At Change Makers, our mission is to forge a pathway out of the shadows of gangs and drugs, into the light of purpose, wholeness, and fulfilment.

The Change Makers Programme stands as the cornerstone of our mission, a mindfully designed six month journey that not only addresses the immediate challenges of addiction and gang involvement but also places a significant emphasis on reconciliation and empowerment as foundational components.

The process of reconciliation extends beyond individuals making peace with their past, to include mending broken relationships with family and community, and ultimately facilitating a return to a supportive and nurturing environment.

How We Drive Change

The initial focus of our six month programme is to help participants break their addiction and dependency, but as they continue their journey with us we focus on enabling the healing, resilience, support, and skills that they will need to thrive in their new life.

Mind
Counselling and Mentoring
Through personalised counselling, participants receive the psychological support necessary to address deep-seated issues related to addiction and gang involvement. Additionally, a mentoring programme pairs participants with staff members who have successfully broken free from drugs and gangs, and can provide unique support, and practical advice.
Body
Healing and Strengthening
Medical care is provided during the programme, with many participants needing treatment at the start of the programme. Secure accommodation and nutritious meals, alongside sports and a gym coach, ensure continued healing and strengthening.
Soul
Reconciliation and Growth
Change Makers works with family and community to facilitate reconciliation, as participants acknowledge past trauma and start a journey towards healing. This is supported by regular biblical teaching, and time dedicated to reflection and prayer.
Community
Building Relationships
We believe that community outreach is a crucial part of the reconciliation process for our participants. Therefore, town clean-up projects and youth outreach are core components of our programme.

Preparing for Life After the Programme

In order to ensure sustained change, we work with participants to ensure that they have the support structures, knowledge and personal discipline to continue growing when they leave. Continued support after the programme is provided through our Creating Futures programmes.

Family and Community Reconciliation

A supportive environment is crucial to long-term change, and through our reconciliation process we ensure that participants have restored family and community relationships.

Job Readiness

Participants learn work place etiquette, team work and personal discipline necessary to thriving in a new job. Our welding, carpentry and screen printing mean that participants experience working in a business, and learn new skills relevant to the job market.

Financial Management

Budgeting and financial planning training empowers participants for financial independence as they start earning income.
