A Journey from Division to Unity
In the 1980s, the New Life Gang Project marked a historic agreement between rival gangs in Breede Valley, igniting a flame of hope that gang violence could be overcome.
Inspired by this success, Change Makers was founded to address the enduring issues of gang affiliation and substance abuse plaguing our community.
The initiative began in 2011, to reach out to a new generation lost to gangs and drugs. By 2013, it became evident that residential care was essential for effecting lasting change.
Continuing our journey
A house on the premises of Kibbutz El-Shammah became the first beacon of hope, witnessing the transformation of lives and impacting the community positively.
As demand grew, we expanded to Moria House in 2018, allowing us to accommodate more men and enhance our programmes.
Around Thirty-six men are housed every year through our Change Makers Programme and Pathway Creator Programme, with many more supported through our Creating Futures initiatives.
Today, Change Makers stands as a testament to what faith, dedication, and community support can achieve. Our journey reflects our belief in redemption and the power of change, driven by the collective efforts of our staff, volunteers, and the men we serve.
